Apple Dumplings

These are to DIE for! Everyone wanted the recipe and I have even made them once already. This is definitely a holiday favorite!

2 Granny Smith apples
2 cans crescent rolls
2 sticks butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon Vanilla
Cinnamon
1 can Mountain Dew (12 oz)

Peel and core apples. Cut apples into 8 slices each. Roll each apple slice in a crescent roll. Place in a 9 x 13 buttered pan. Melt butter, then add sugar and barely stir. Add vanilla, stir and pour over apples. Pour Mountain Dew around the edges of the pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes. Serve with ice cream, and spoon some of the sweet sauce from the pan over the top.

These really were to die for. I made them tonight to see what the hype was all about, and they are definitely worth the hype. I am going to make these along with the artichoke dip for my two orderbs for new years night. Thanks for sharing these recipes...This one was GREAT!

Okay, we made these again tonight...I am now mastering this recipe...they tasted even better tonight..what I did: Used half as much butter than the recipe called for, added 2 Tbs. mountain dew to the butter/sugar mixure, baked for 25 min (mine came out golden brown, just perfect. If I would have cooked them for 40, they would have burned for sure) every oven is different. Next time I make these, I will turn my oven to broil at the very last minute and get them just a little toastier on top..but be careful to watch them closely..they can burn if you do this. You could also use ginger ale in place of the mountain dew if you want and still get a similar taste. These are my new favorite treat...thanks jenna for posting.
